Why is First Aid for Mental Health so Important?

young and happy

Each year approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health condition and at least 1 in 6 employees experience common mental health problems in the workplace.

Research has shown that work is the biggest cause of stress which can stop people performing at their best.

Mental health conditions are often hidden due to stigma and fear of discrimination and research has shown that a culture of fear and silence around mental health is costly to employers.

We believe that mental health in the workplace is vital to the success of any business. We are pleased to be able to offer a range of courses to help you and stakeholders understand the signs and symptoms of mental health illness, and how to support an individual with mental health issues.

First Aid for Mental Health Level 1
(Half Day Course)

This course is for anyone and everyone. It has been designed to provide a general awareness of mental health. We generally advise that this is delivered in the workplace as part of staff's continuous professional development. Upon completion of this course, attendees will achieve their FAA Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (Level 1 RQF).

First Aid for Mental Health Level 2
(1 Day Course)

This course is ideal for individuals in roles with some levels of managerial responsibility. It will provide attendees with a good knowledge of how to identify and offer initial support to those showing signs of mental distress. Upon completion of this course, attendees will achieve their FAA Award in First Aid for Mental Health (Level 2 RQF).

First Aid for Mental Health Level 3 - Supervising First Aiders
(2 Day Course)

This course is designed for individuals who wish to be Mental Health First Aiders within an organisation. The course will give a deeper understanding of prevalent mental health problems, how to signpost individuals that are struggling with mental health issues and an understanding of how support from professionals might look. The Mental Health First Aider does not have to be a member of the management team, they are a go-to person for anyone who is going through some form of mental health issue. Upon completion of this course, attendees will achieve their FAA Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF).

We can deliver tailored courses at your place of work, or you can nominate individuals to attend one of our regular courses.
